Using time series file as input in wind turbine generation

Hi,

I have modeled two different systems using HOMER (PV/Vestas wind turbine/grid and PV/Vestas wind turbine/Enercon wind turbine/Grid). I use the same 10-minute time series txt file for the wind speed input in both cases. However, I noticed that the energy output for the Vestas wind turbine are different in each case. I am wondering why this happens. Shouldn't they be similar since the input are similar? Any feedback is appreciated.

Hi Umdatul,

 

Did you make sure the turbine characteristics are the same for both the wind turbines that you are comparing, like the power curve and turbine losses?

Hi Dhiwakaar,

Yes, everything else is the same. Altitude, hub height, turbine losses and power law exponent all were set the same. The difference is around 700,000 kWh/year. 

Is there anything else that might affect the turbine result?

Hi Umdatul,

 

I noticed that you have entered a different scaled annual average for the turbines under wind resources. That is what is causing the difference in turbine output.
